How to Start Counselling

How to start counselling with me

Step 1

Step 2

If we agree to work together after the initial session, I recommend that we have a review around session 6.  This enables us to reflect on how you have found the process, what works what doesn't in going forward, if you decide to continue.

I offer a free of charge 20-minute phone or  video call to give you an idea of what to expect if you choose to work with me and to help you decide if I am the one to embark your counselling journey with. This gives us the opportunity to discuss what has brought you to counselling and what you expect to get from it, enabling you to make an informed decision.

Holly Jones

Due to the varied and colourful life that I have led, and after having therapy of my own over the years I realised that I can use my experiences from the past and turn them into something positive. I have strong empathy for others, and I create a safe and secure space to speak openly about whatever comes to mind.

There is no judgement when you are with me,

I am here to help you on a journey

to make peace with what is troubling you.

What type of therapy is best for me?

There are many different types of therapy, and depending on what each client brings I use my experiences to decide on the best approach, this could be person-centred, psychodynamic, CBT, or a mixture of therapies to gain the most from our sessions together.

Testimonials

"Holly has been amazing.  We have worked together for

just over a year and I can’t put into words how much has changed within that year.
Holly has always been so approachable and so understanding

I’ve never felt so listened to as I do with Holly, from the very first time we spoke I was instantly put at ease. Nothing is ever pushed or forced, always at my pace
and I very much needed that.
Holly is amazing, there’s no other way to describe her."

Becky

"Holly made me feel completely comfortable from the start, and created a safe space where I felt I could be as open and honest as I wanted to be right away.

I’ve made so much progress and Holly is the main factor for that, she helped me with many issues including grief,

self-image, anxieties etc.

I am very grateful for the useful advice I was given along with a non judgemental and reassuring listening ear!"

Kate

"Admittedly I was a bit sceptical as it was my first counselling session after putting it off for a good while; however instantly Holly made me feel at ease and found it very easy to open up to her (which isn't my normal persona).

She knew when to listen and when to talk, and asked delicate questions to encourage me to push thoughts that I would have tended to avoid in the past. Her friendly and warm personality was also a massive plus."

Michael

"Holly is so kind and listens to everything I say, she helps me rethink and re-evaluate everything,

which has helped me put things into perspective.

It’s one of the best things I’ve done and couldn’t be more thankful for having someone as Holly to help me

overcome my issues.
